Party hats aren't just for kids anymore

With a shared custody agreement that rotates every 4 days, there are many times when birthday party invitations will arrive home with Kelly while she is with us but are scheduled during a time that she is with her mother. We of course inform CB and send the invitation along so she can RSVP if she plans to have Kelly attend. Normally CB does this in return.

Have I mentioned before that CB is quite enchanted with people she views to have 'status' in the community? She desperately wants to be part of their worlds, as though knowing them will make her somewhat special too. In Kelly's class there is a young boy that Kelly likes very much. His parents are extremely rich. CB desperately wants to be friends with the mother for this reason.

It was this little boy's 7th birthday, the party was being held at one of those amusement parks for little kids with all the tunnels and such. The invitation went home with Kelly while she was in CB's care but the actual party fell on day that Kelly was with us. Now one would think that a mother would not want her child to miss out on a birthday party of a friends and would sent it along. One would even think if the mother DESPERATELY wanted to attend that party herself she might simply ask the other custodial parent if she could take the child herself that afternoon. Do you think that CB did?.......... No! She kept the invitation for herself, never told her daughter, never told us...... and then a 40 year old woman attended a 7 year old boy's birthday party herself. I wonder..... did she throw on a party hat and climb through the tunnels too???

We would not even have found out about this, had not one of our friends also attended the party. The other parents there found it very strange that she would attend without a child and asked why she was there. CB, of course, when asked this, and upon realizing she must have looked like a complete moron, tried to imply that Jack wouldn't allow Kelly to attend. Kelly had to return to school to hear all the children talking about the party and left school feeling that she had not been invited. Nice mother.... hopefully this boy doesn't invite Kelly to their prom years from now... I'd hate to think CB tries to steal her date in order to hob nob with the rich.
